I know living with cats isn't always a party, but with some education on kitty basics and the right tools it sure can be! Cats are complex animals and are often misunderstood, or thought of as similar to dogs in behavior (wrong). However, as a cat behaviorist, I know that cats have specific needs that can easily be met with the right (sometimes quite minor) lifestyle modifications.
My heart breaks when cats are surrendered, re-homed, turned out to the streets or worse, euthanized because of behavioral problems. I personally needed to learn more about feline behavior due to aggression issues in my own home in Minneapolis, MN, and that led me to getting certified so I could help cats before their guardians gave up on them. I never want to see another cat needlessly lose its home or its life due to being misunderstood. That’s why I do what I do...I know there is a way to resolve or manage many of the problems you may be experiencing with your cat. I am confident that with my insight, positive reinforcement techniques, environmental enrichment, and your help, we can work on a solution. You and your cats deserve the best so that every day can be a party!
We can address aggressive behaviors in cats, both towards other animals and towards people.
If your cat is engaging in destructive behaviors, such as clawing, scratching, or chewing, we can help you redirect those behaviors in your cat.
A compulsive behavior in a cat is something that interferes with everyday life (excessive licking, chasing, chewing, etc.)
If your cat suffers from separation anxiety, we can work with you to address this behavior.
We are here to help you find the cause behind your cat's litter box issues, including spraying, marking, and more.
If your cat's behavior has changed recently, we can help you get to the root cause of the behavioral change.
During the appointment, I will ask more questions and provide you with a behavioral analysis, some expectations, and a customized behavioral plan to solve your cat's behavior issues. Payment will be due at the time of the consultation. After the consultation I will provide a written summary of the behavior plan. Follow up support may also be included via email or phone calls. I encourage sending in weekly email update reports to tell me how your cat is responding. Please fill out this form if you would like to schedule a cat behavior consultation as described on the Services page. Any time more than one cat is involved or if there's more than one issue of concern, things get more complicated and require more time and patience to resolve. If you need help determining which consult would be appropriate for your situation, please contact our team. If you just can't decide, we highly recommend booking a cat party 101 intro consultation - you can always upgrade to a full service consultation later.
Yes, please choose The Cat party 101 with a 30-day support extension service. We can help you integrate your new cat or kitten into your household successfully. Yes! We work with clients all over the world via Zoom video conferencing. Please reach if you have any concerns.
Cats are complex animals, and we have a limited amount of control over their behavior. Many undesirable cat behaviors take time and patience to correct - some are resolved more easily and quickly than others. There are a number of factors that can affect this, including your cat, the amount of time you can dedicate to resolving the issue, and many other aspects of your situation. But don't worry about the 30-day limit; the full-service behavior package can be extended in 30-day increments if you need more time.
I have lived with cats nearly every single day of my life and I thought I knew everything about my feline family. It wasn’t until I reached my early 40’s that I actually “met” my cats for the first time throughresearch to solve issues in my own home. That’s when I discovered the world of feline behavior. The more I learned, the more I realized how truly misunderstood cats were in our society. I discovered what unique, fascinating, complex creatures they were and how much I’d been denying my own cats what they needed to live fulfilling cat lives. It wasn’t long before I knew…this was what I wanted to do with my life – help others on a similar journey to truly knowing, loving, and appreciating their cats.
I’m a certified Feline Training and Behavior Specialist through the Animal Behavior College. In addition to my own cats, I have a revolving door of foster kitties who need neonatal care, socialization work or are going through medical recovery.
My goal is to keep families together and build bonds that won’t be broken. I look forward to reintroducing you to your best feline friends.
